Hello Baby Card

I made this card for a co-worker who gave birth to a baby boy (Congratulations, Gaylin!)  At the same time, I am participating in the Hero Arts Tic-Tac-Toe challenge.

I chose the first line across (circles-stencil-heat embossing.)

For the circle, I die cut a circle opening at the center of a 4 1/4 x 5.5 white cardstock where the image will show. I blended SSS Audrey Blue to color the white panel.  Before stamping my sentiment, I heat this panel to make sure the ink is dry and ready for embossing. I die cut another white circle to create an outline for the center circle. I inked this circle outline with Hero Arts Mint Julep. I temporarily taped this outline circle while I was working on the sentiment to ensure proper placement of the letters. I stamped the letters using Versamark ink, applied Hero Arts white embossing powder and heat set it. Since I am using an alphabet stamp set, I had to tape the circle, run my embossing powder, stamp the letter, apply powder and heat the letter one at a time. Sounds like a lot of work but once you got the rhythm of it, it is very quick. I colored the letters with white color pencil.

For the stencil, I used a confetti star stencil. Using a sponge dauber, I tapped white pigment ink onto the stencil. I applied glitter embossing powder to it then heat set it.

For the center image, I laid the panel to my note card to allow proper stamping of the mother and baby elephant image. I stamped this on the card using Memento Tuxedo Black, then stamped the image again on a Post-It note which I will use for masking. I fuzzy cut the Post-It note and used this to cover the image. I blended Tim Holtz Squeezed Lemonade around the image. I cut another Post-It note to create a scene and serve as a ground for the image. I used MFT Kraft Ink for this. I colored the image using Copics.

I adhered to blue panel on top of the stamped note card. I then adhered the circle outline.

My youngest son, Ryan posed with the card.

Rainbow Father's Day Card

I know it's late for Father's Day but I owe my Amang (that's one ways of calling dad in Filipino) a card. He won't get this right away since my sister will personally deliver this to him when she goes back to the Philippines after her 2-month vacation here.

My first plan is to use watercolor brush on this brush stroke stamp by directly applying color to the clear stamp. This technique didn't make a good impression on the stamped image so I used dye ink.

For the sentiment, I wanted to use the label die. I looked through my stash for a stamp set that will fit the label. I came up with an alphabet die which was hard to line up even if it is a clear stamp. I cut the letters individually to be able to line it up. To match the red of the stamped red brush stroke, I inked a white cardstock, then allowed this to dry before I die cut the label.

I did some masking to create Happy Day from the 'Happy Birthday' sentiment stamp. This was heat embossed using clear/black powder. The label is adhered between these sentiments with foam tape to give it depth. I adhered this on a black note card with foam tape.

The circles were created by adhering washi tapes on white cardstock. I die cut this using the middle-sized circle die. After I scattered and adhered these circles to the cardfront, I applied Glossy Accents to it.

Happy Father's Day Copic Colored Glitter Card

Happy Father's Day to my husband, Clem! Here's the card I made for this occasion.

I cut the card sentiment using Cricut Artiste Philosophy at 4" on a white cardstock. I applied Versamark ink to the the sentiment, poured Ranger sticky embossing powder to it, then heat set it. I applied Elizabeth Crafts silk microfine glitter to this, rubbed it with my finger to set it. I colored this with Copics..

For the background, I used a Tim Holtz stencil and a black cardstock. I wanted to create gold embossing paste for the stars. I first tried mixing Prima Color Blooms to the paste but the outcome is not a vibrant gold. I then tried mixing a gold watercolor to the paste but it still wasn't vibrant. With these two trials, I also made the paste watery. I guess I could have tried Perfect Pearls but didn't thought about it that time. My final resort to creating gold textured stars is using Tim Holtz Distress Glitters. I poured it to the paste while it was still wet. I set this aside. Although, not all of the glitters settled on the paste (Glitters kept falling off!), I was happy with the texture.

I liked the idea of adding a second sentiment to the front of the card after my 3rd son described the layout as awesome. I used thesaPaper Smooches Sentiment Sampler set to add another sentiment. I wanted a single lined sentiment on the bottom. This stamp seemed difficult to cut so I did some masking to make it a one liner sentiment. This was stamped using Versamark ink. I applied WOW! Gold Pearl embossing powder, then heat set it. I cut it into a strip, applied foam adhesive. This was adhered to the bottom of the card.

I trimmed the black background paper to 4 x 5 1/4. I adhered this to a gold cardstock for additional pop of color.

Patterned Paper Inspired Card

After I saw this patterned paper on a CHA video, I knew I will be creating something inspired by it.

Green Tea
Shimelle True Stories
America Crafts

I tried using the mirror stamping technique but I couldn't get a good impression stamping it on watercolor paper. I stamped the cup on the back of a larger clear stamp, on an acrylic block, and on a clear plastic. I practiced on regular paper first, and I got good impressions of the mirrored cup. But when I tried it on watercolor paper, it barely leaves an impression. I think it could be the texture of the watercolor paper that does not allow a good impression. I also used a light colored ink to stamp the cups. Maybe it will be different if it is a dark colored ink. What do you think?

The cups are stamped using a light colored ink. I watercolored the cups. I outlined the stem of the cup using a dark colored marker. I stamped the saucer and dots. I stamped the coffee bean twice to create a heart. I added more details by adding glaze dots on the stamped dots. Using a white gel pen, I drew lines and a dot on the hearts.

I directly stamped the sentiment to the background paper. I applied clear embossing powder then heat set it. I created an embossed paper before I die cut the word always to add to the embellishment.

I applied Wink of Stella and added a dot of Glossy Accents to the hearts.
