Snowman Tag

I created a tag to join the Twine It Up! January Challenge: Let It Snow!

It is a tag, includes a snowman and snowflakes. I don't have a Trendy Twine (yet) so, I used embroidery thread instead. I didn't know they come in an ombre pattern. Cool!

Tag is size 5 (4 3/4 x 2 3/8.) Image stamped first, then masked. Stamped snowflakes on background with VersaMark ink. Distressed background using Tim Holtz Distress Inks.

I colored the image using Copics. I poked holes on outline of scarf. I hand-stitched the scarf using embroidery floss. I layered the hat. I ran the hat through my Sizzix die cut machine. I poked holes on the hat trim outline. I hand-stitched the hat trim using embroidery floss.

My initial plan is to have the snowman hold a banner of hearts but then I changed it to a sentiment. I was going to use vellum first but it covered the scarf which for me, is the focal point of this tag. So, I used acetate. Cut it into a banner, as if the snowman is holding it. I painted Wink of Stella to the bottom trim of the hat. I am still having a hard time capturing the shine in my photos. I also used clear Gelly Roll Sakura pen on the dots of the hat. I applied some Black Ranger Enamel Accents for the eyes.

I doubled my card stock to hide the back of the stitching. I added a sentiment, stapled a ribbon, and now the tag is ready to be attached to a gift or given as a a card.

And...

This week is Picture Perfect Challenge week in Paper Smooches Sparks Blog.
This is the inspiration photo.

And this is my take on this challenge.

I cut several hearts and glued the the points to create a flower. A lot of work in glueing but they sure came out nice. Now, I have a Valentine's card for my husband.

The sentiment is from an old ballad, "And, I Love You So" which was remade by one of my and my husband's favorite Filipino singers Gary Valenciano. I masked a part of each sentiment to come up with my own sentiment in the inside of the card.

Happy Birthday, Ate Ning!

It is my one & only sister's birth month. She requested for a card which I gladly gave in to. Her favorite color is purple, so my color scheme should be in this hue. I also made this card with the intention of submitting it to Paper Smooches Anything Goes challenge for this week. Of course, with her permission first.

The number of candles doesn't mean anything. I just made it odd numbered. The light in the candles is from the tea leaf stamp in the Cyber Cafe stamp set.
One of my resolutions this year in card making is to start designing the inside of the card. I usually leave it blank for later, depending on the occasion the card will be used. I am not going to post the photo of the inside of the card here. I will keep it as my sister's private message.
I showed her this card this morning and she gave me her blessing to submit it to the contest (Thanks, sis!)

Hello Friend

I made this card for Paper Smooches' December Anything Goes Challenge.

I used the Poinsettia stamp in the Merry Motifs stamp set. I stamped it twice in two different shades of ink. I offset the second stamping to create this flower. I stamped it again for the third time using Versamark ink and clear embossing powder. The steam stamp in the Cyber Cafe was utilized as my flourish.

One problem I came across with working on this project is that I had a hard time adhering my sequins on the clear embossed flower. The Glossy Accents did not work so well with adhering the sequins. Glue dots seem to work well but it has to be properly applied to the back of the sequins, especially the small ones.
